Most american car companies were selling muscle cars in 1969, Dodge offered buyers the “Scat Pack”. A family of performance cars that included the Charger R/T, Coronet R/T, Dart GT Sport and the Super Bee. Dodge refreshed the Super Bee for 1969, a hardtop joined the existing pillared coupe. Build as a budget muscle car and priced at only $3,027, the Bee offered a great bang for the buck.

Powered by a high-performance 383 cubic-inch big block Magnum v8 that was rated at 335 horsepower. Buyers were offered either a four-speed manual or a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Optional engines included the 440 Magnum Six Pack and the legendary 426 Hemi.

Super Bee’s equipped with the Ramcharger Hood had a very aggressive look. Changes on the out side included a new dark grey grille that featured a narrow center section with wide headlight bezels.
Dodge added the A12 Six-pack option mid-year to boost performance of the Super Bee.

This package cost $462.80 and added some of wildest parts ever offered on a Dodge muscle car. This included a flat black fiberglass hood with a large scoop with six pack decals held in place by four racing style pins. The 383 engine was replaced by a 440 cubic inch power plant that featured a edelbrock aluminum intake manifold with three Holley 2300-series two-barrel carburetors.

The engine featured a special camshaft, heavy duty connecting rods, heavy duty valve stems, heavy duty springs and 10.5:1 compression. Also part of the package was a dual-breaker distributor and 26-inch heavy-duty radiator, this combination produced 390 horsepower and 490-lbs.ft. of torque. A12 Bee’s also included a 9¾-inch Dana 60 rear-end, complete with sure-grip limited-slip and a 4.10:1 ratio. Also included were plain black steel wheels and chrome lug nuts.

Sales of the 1969 Dodge Super Bee improved over the previous year, Dodge built around 27,800 of these cool muscle cars in 1969.
